La Statue de la Liberté est née à MÉDÉRIC, L’école hôtelière de Paris 🗽
Peu de Parisiens le savent : dans le 17ème arrondissement, le site qu’occupe aujourd’hui MÉDÉRIC fut autrefois un immense atelier industriel. C’est ici, à la fin du XIXème siècle, que la Statue de la Liberté fut créée et assemblée avant son départ vers New York.
Réalisé dans le cadre de l’amitié franco-américaine, ce monument fut offert par le peuple français au peuple américain pour célébrer le centenaire de l’indépendance américaine ainsi que les valeurs communes de liberté et de démocratie.
La construction de la statue fut financée grâce à une souscription populaire en France, tandis que le socle fut financé par une collecte similaire menée aux États-Unis.

Few Parisians know this: in the 17th arrondissement, the site now occupied by MÉDÉRIC was once a vast industrial workshop. It was here, at the end of the 19th century, that the Statue of Liberty was created and assembled before being shipped to New York.
Built as part of the Franco-American friendship, this monument was gifted by the French people to the American people to celebrate the centennial of American independence, as well as the shared values of freedom and democracy.
The construction of the statue was funded through a public subscription campaign in France, while the pedestal was financed through a similar fundraising effort in the United States.
